Electric Scooter Repair and Customization
Here's a list of what I did to the scooter:
- Replaced motor controller (24v)
- Replaced and upgraded battery (24v 6.6Ah (old) -> 24v 10Ah (new)
- Replaced controls and display
- Replaced LED light switch cover
- Painted Grey
- Replaced grip tape (clear with some old stickers below)
- Filed and sanded some plastic parts that were gouged
This is a scooter I found abandoned in the park near my house. I repaired and customized it. The full story is in the weblog under May 20, 2021.
Before and after pictures:
Before #1 - Taken from the web until I find my actual before pictures. It was white when I found it.
After #1 - The whole scooter.
After #2 - The new display was set into the existing LED light.
After #3 - The LED light switch cover was missing, probably that allowed water in to kill the battery. I'm adding a new plug for the charging port next.
WIP #1 - The old LED light and the new display got merged and epoxied into something that isn't amazing, but is much better than a display dangling down along the side where it makes a horrible noise as it rattles. I considered 3D printing a new piece that would do this a little sleeker, but I decided I didn't want to invest that much time into reinventing the LED light and case.
